I worked with Calder on several projects and I was totally pleased with both the experience and the scents. They haunt me still. They added enormous dimension, in particular the scent he created for a Michelangelo installation my company orchestrated at Westfield Mall in Topanga, CA. I was so thrilled that I used him for my Christmas gift to my special clients. He is a complete gentleman and joy. What more can I say. I am a huge fan.
Calder crafts scents with a sense of olfactory dimension that is totally unique to him. Sometimes his scents are soft and flirtatious, sometimes ragged, hoary and rambunctious. Sometimes clean and thin like a blade of crystal grass, sometimes grand, slow and dazzling like an inflating hot air balloon. Calder is a thoughtful and creative scent-maker with works with attention to detail and tremendous heart: a real artist in every sense.

Calder is a very talented perfumer with a sophisticated nose. He created a bespoke fragrance for me that completely captured the complicated notes I love. I use it sparingly because it is a favorite of mine and I don't want to run out. When I wear it, everyone tells me how unique it is.
Calder translated an idea I wasn’t even sure was possible into something that continues to amaze me. What does a blood moon smell like? Calder's process was collaborative and grounded in craft. The final fragrance was exact: moody, metallic, lunar, and unlike anything else I've smelled. Being witness to Calder's work changed the way I experience scent — I never knew how many layers and narratives you could craft or that scent alone could induce beautiful hallucinations and visions. Could not recommend more!
Calder opened the door to the inner sanctum of scent for me. He designed a unique scent for me that feels like a hug every time i wear it.
I requested two custom scents from Calder: the first was to bring me from the deepest roots of a tree up to the point where its top-most leaves touch the sky; the second to smell of soil and fruit. Calder was able to understand and interpret these esoteric requests with passion, cleverly incorporating measures of stone, musk, wood, leaf, flower, and fruit — and an unexpected ingredient or two — to achieve a perfect balance. Though the requests were similar, Calder managed to make each scent distinct, and people were fascinated by them. The process was fun and personal, and each new element added to the mix came with a story about its science or its history, and how it might wear on clothes versus skin. There was a touch of alchemy to it. Truly a unique experience!
